Στον χώρο του Art Project Space, στην Αθήνα, παρουσιάζεται η ομαδική έκθεση σύγχρονης τέχνης με τίτλο «λάλλαρος». Η έκθεση αντλεί το όνομά της από τη γνωστή κυπριακή φράση «Ένα φκώ μες στον λάλλαρο» — την έξοδο στη βαριά, ακίνητη, μεσημεριανή ζέστη, εκεί όπου το φως δεν είναι πια μόνο φως, αλλά συνθήκη ύπαρξης. Η λέξη γίνεται αφορμή για μια εικαστική εξερεύνηση του κυπριακού ήλιου, της έντασης και της υλικότητάς του· μιας εμπειρίας που ξεπερνά το τοπίο και αγγίζει τη σωματική και ψυχική κατάσταση του ανθρώπου που τον βιώνει. Τα εγκαίνια της έκθεσης θα λάβουν χώρα την Τρίτη 18 Νοεμβρίου, 18:30–22:30, με διάρκεια έως 6 Δεκεμβρίου.
Οι επτά Κύπριοι καλλιτέχνες που συμμετέχουν στην έκθεση —εκπρόσωποι διαφορετικών γενεών και καλλιτεχνικών πρακτικών, από τη ζωγραφική και τη γλυπτική έως και την υφαντική τέχνη— συναντώνται σε ένα πεδίο δημιουργικού διαλόγου και συνύπαρξης, όπου οι ατομικές τους γλώσσες συνυφαίνονται σε μια πολυφωνική εικαστική αφήγηση. Μέσα από τις διαφορετικές τους προσεγγίσεις, διερευνούν το φως και τη θερμότητα όχι ως σύμβολα, αλλά ως ζωντανή ύλη που πλάθει, φθείρει και αναγεννά — μια δύναμη που μεταμορφώνει τόσο την ύλη όσο και την εμπειρία της όρασης. Ζωγραφική, γλυπτική, εγκαταστάσεις και μικτές τεχνικές συνδιαλέγονται σε ένα πεδίο όπου η ένταση του φωτός διαλύει τις μορφές και τις επανασυνθέτει. Τα έργα αναμετρώνται με τη διαύγεια και την τύφλωση, με το όριο της όρασης και το βάρος της θερμότητας· με εκείνη τη στιγμή που το φως γίνεται εμπειρία σχεδόν μεταφυσική. Είναι μια δύναμη που καθορίζει τη σχέση του ανθρώπου με το περιβάλλον, την όραση και την ίδια την εμπειρία της ύπαρξης.
Η έκθεση, που παρουσιάζεται για πρώτη φορά στην Αθήνα, δημιουργεί μια γέφυρα ανάμεσα στην κυπριακή εμπειρία και ένα ευρύτερο κοινό. Εμπνευσμένη από τις περιγραφές του Γιώργου Σεφέρη και άλλων ποιητών που αποτύπωσαν το φως και τη ζέστη της Κύπρου, η «λάλλαρος» φωτίζει, μέσα από τα βλέμματα των σύγχρονων εικαστικών, τον ήλιο ως αφορμή για στοχασμό, ανάμνηση και αναμέτρηση με το φως ως δημιουργική και διαβρωτική δύναμη.
Καθώς οι εποχές αλλάζουν και οι μέρες γίνονται πιο κρύες, ο «λάλλαρος» λειτουργεί σαν αντίστιξη: φέρνει στην Αθήνα τη θερμότητα, το φως και τη νοσταλγία του καλοκαιριού. Σε μια εποχή που το φως λιγοστεύει, τα έργα της έκθεσης μοιάζουν να εκπέμπουν τη δική τους θερμότητα — μια υπόσχεση θαλπωρής.

The group exhibition entitled «λάλλαρος» is presented at Art Project Space in Athens. The contemporary art exhibition, explors the intensity and materiality of the Cypriot sun. The title draws from the well-known Cypriot expression “Ένα φκώ μες στον λάλλαρο” — stepping into the heavy, motionless midday heat, where light is no longer just light, but a condition of existence. The phrase becomes a point of departure for an artistic exploration of Cyprus’s light and heat— forces that shape the body, the mind, and the environment. The opening of the exhibition will take place on Tuesday 18th of November, 18:30-22:30, until 6th of December.
The seven Cypriot artists participating in the exhibition — representing different generations and artistic practices, from painting and sculpture to textile art — come together in a field of creative dialogue and coexistence, where their distinct visual languages intertwine into a polyphonic artistic narrative. Through their diverse approaches, they explore light and heat not as symbols but as living matter — a force that shapes, erodes, and regenerates; a transformative power that redefines both material and perception. Painting, sculpture, installation, and mixed media converse in a space where the intensity of light dissolves forms and reassembles them anew. The works engage with clarity and blindness, with the limits of vision and the weight of heat — with that precise moment when light becomes an almost metaphysical experience. It is a force that defines the human relationship with the environment, with vision itself, and with the very experience of existence.
Presented for the first time in Athens, «λάλλαρος» bridges the Cypriot experience with a wider audience. Inspired by the descriptions of Giorgos Seferis and other travelers and poets who captured the sun and heat of Cyprus, the exhibition offers contemporary artistic perspectives, turning the sun once again into a point of reflection, memory, and engagement with light and heat as both a creative and corrosive force.
As the seasons change and the days get colder, «λάλλαρος» provides a contrast: bringing to Athens the warmth, light, and nostalgia of the Cypriot summer. At a time when daylight diminishes, the artworks seem to radiate their own heat — a quiet promise of comfort and illumination.
